Zalmari Estate: A Legacy of Women-Led Coffee
Uncommon continues to be grateful for our longstanding partnership with Ceci Genis, a multigenerational coffee farmer who runs Zalmari Estate.
Her estate lies in the micro-region of the Cachi, Orosi Valley in Costa Rica.
Four generations of her family have worked to maintain a balance of environmentally friendly practices, support for the community and continuously producing some of the highest quality coffee in the world.
She and her mother, Marigold founded the IWCA (International Women Coffee Alliance) Costa Rican Chapter.
Her estate was the first to obtain the Women Care Certification, a new certification designed to improve the sustainable lifestyle for women involved in the cultivation, processing, trading & exporting of coffee.
In 1997 her family started their own micro processing plant. The milling is done with reduced amounts of water which goes to the settling ponds after the process is completed. They dry on African Beds and the finishing touch is done in the dryers.
Expect a clean cup with medium acidity and tea-like notes.
