What is Cascara?
Cascara is Spanish for “husk” or “peel”. It is the pulp and skin surrounding the coffee bean. The skin of a coffee cherry (the exocarp) is thick and bitter. However, the fruit beneath it (the mesocarp) is intensely sweet and has the texture of a grape.

Secret Superfood
Coffee cherry skins ruin the taste of coffee, so farmers have always thrown them out or used them as part of their compost. Coffee itself has been known to be low in calories and packed with antioxidants. Farmers did not realize that the Cascara that protects the coffee bean does this and much more. Packed with antioxidants, this secret superfood can boost your immune system, protect against free radicals and act as an anti-inflammatory.

Brewing Instructions (8oz. cup) Place 8 to 9 grams of cascara into your tea filter or serving vessel. Boil water, let sit for 30 seconds, then pour 8 ounces directly over the cascara. Let steep for 5 minutes or until tea is at desired strength. Enjoy hot or cold!
