We are excited to introduce you all to Curt’s Cafe. Uncommon Coffee Roasters has been working with Curt’s Cafe since they opened their first location in 2012.
Curt’s Cafe is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that provides food service training, coffee preparation, life skills, and more for at-risk youth in Evanston, IL and surrounding areas. Their second location, opened in April of 2015, is devoted to providing the same service to at-risk girls and teen mothers.
Our friends at Curt’s are in need of a new espresso machine. We need your help to get them one! CLICK HERE to make a donation to this amazing organization and we will send you some Uncommon gifts!
“Curt’s Café is a non-profit organization that provides training, in food service and life skills, for at-risk youth in Evanston, IL. Students at Curt’s learn valuable, employable skills; they’re tutored in subjects ranging from computer literacy to job readiness to food history; and they are mentored by food service professionals and other caring adults. Our students receive a stipend while they’re learning and we’ll provide job placement assistance when they complete their training.
Student-trainees come from Evanston, Chicago, Skokie and the surrounding areas and range in age from 15 through 24. They’re all considered at risk, meaning they have either already had contact with the judicial system or had been headed in that direction. They’re determined now to build a positive future for themselves, their families and their community. For these young people, being able to get and hold a job will contribute immeasurably toward their success.”
